Restucco pictures

If you ever want complete chaos, get your house re-stuccoed. This is especially good if it has been painted at some time in the past, and if you’re going over siding or something else that needs wiring. If you can combine all of these, it’s extra-special.

The crew did a good job — the house looks great. There’s more collateral damage than I’d hoped for, but we’ll see what the end result is after all is said and done and the stucco is properly cured and dry to colour.

Meantime:

It used to look like this:

Original outside

The trim and siding had gotten more and more weatherbeaten over the last decade, those windows had been replaced, and the painted over stucco was gone.

10 years later…

Now… yeah.

Now it looks a bit different

And now…

Pictures from my brother’s visit: John’s visit

First time John had been to the US in almost 20 years; first time he’d done a century; first time riding at altitude.  He needs more sunscreen

Some of the lessons: don’t hike much of the Grand Canyon 2 days before a century ride. It’s bad for your legs. Also, it makes John HUNGRY

A WR250X is a decent learner bike, even with a quarter turn throttle. It’s less good as a two-up bike!

Pictures speak for themselves, mostly. Really nice trip!

Note to self: don’t delete the database

Well. Apparently, if you delete the database underneath a WordPress site in the process of cleaning up another, older site — the site fails. Who knew? While I had backups of the database, they were sufficiently old and sufficiently messed up (and had sufficiently little information in them) that it was just as easy to establish a new database. Fun all the way around, but there wasn’t enough on here to miss.
